Poem for an October Day

Leaden clouds against my window-pane,
Grey and thick with first of Autumn's rain
Pressing close as if to creep inside
And chill me at the hearthstone where I hide
A book in hand and three more on the floor
To keep me comp'ny 'til the clock strikes four
O bountiful, breathless, bleak October day
All sodden skies where wastrel gusts do play
Pray, linger longer 'til the light grows dim
Linger - and perchance I'll let you in

Three Cheers for Siblings

I was hard at work studying in the depths of my room when a small someone pushed open the door and rushed at me. A few moments later, the door slammed shut and I was left sitting on my bed, slightly stunned, with a piece of paper in my hands. This is what it read (spelling is a faithful reproduction of the original):

Always fathfol and tru
Loving, kind and helpfol to
Listening alwas
Initrested in me
Still a grat sister
Open to
Nuw explorin from sea to sea

Now, I'll admit that I was a tad put out by being interrupted in the midst of a very passionate dissertation on Biblical slavery (given by Gary North's Tools of Dominion) but now that I take a second look, it was worth it.

Do you see the acrostic, the deliciously honest rhyming? Three cheers for siblings.
